Learning to Value Every Language at JAIN Public School
About the News
Bengaluru, 31 August 2026: The day at JAIN Public School, Jakkasandra, began with the lighting of a lamp and an inaugural dance. Dr Vathsala N, Director, JVN and JPS, Jakkasandra, was the chief guest at Bhasha Habba, a celebration of languages organised by the English, Kannada and Hindi departments on the school campus, and 697 students attended.
The programme opened with an introduction to why the day mattered. Students were encouraged to see that India is home to many languages and dialects, each with its own stories, songs, literature and traditions, and that learning and respecting different languages helps build understanding, harmony and unity among people.
With that idea in place, the students took the floor. Speeches, recitations, songs, dialogues, storytelling and other presentations gave them room to show their language skills, creativity and confidence, and cultural items brought different linguistic traditions in front of the audience. The performances showed how closely language is linked with music, literature, art and customs, and students presented before their peers and teachers with enthusiasm.
Behind the presentations were the teachers, who motivated students throughout the celebration, helped them prepare and created an inclusive setting where every child could appreciate and contribute to the celebration. Working together on performances and activities encouraged teamwork, cooperation and responsibility, and it also built communication, public speaking, listening and presentation skills.
The day returned in the end to a simple point: respecting another person's language is a way of respecting their identity and culture. The programme set out to improve communication, reading, writing and speaking skills, and students enjoyed the activities, learning through experience and strengthening their language skills along the way.
